WhatsBox
Last updated on: October 22, 2024
My score: 70
WhatsBox is a very cheap WhatsApp tool for small businesses and non-profits, offering a shared inbox, campaign management, and advanced integrations for professional use.
For this review I have used the demo and public available information and videos.
Summary
WhatsBox is a product developed by Mobidonia and is sold through Codecanyon, a popular marketplace for digital products. It is a WhatsApp application positioned at a competitive price of $89.
WhatsBox is a PHP application that needs to be hosted on your own server and requires an SQL database for setup.
WhatsBox is an extremely affordable choice for businesses looking to start with WhatsApp communication and campaigns. For basic use, it is almost unbeatable in terms of price. It also remains cost-effective for more advanced use cases, provided you are willing to invest in some extra plugins and platforms.
I believe WhatsBox is an excellent choice for small businesses and non-profits.
Features: 33/50
WhatsBox is built on the official WhatsApp API.
Shared Inbox
WhatsBox provides a basic shared inbox where multiple users can collaborate. However, a limitation is that all users have the same permissions. It is unclear whether multiple phone numbers can be added, making it less suitable for larger customer support teams. However, it can be a good fit for small businesses or non-profit organizations.
Campaigns
With WhatsBox, you can send campaigns by importing contacts via CSV files. These contacts can be organized into specific lists, making it easy to launch a WhatsApp campaign to a targeted group.
Automation and Chatflows
Although standard chatbot features are limited, WhatsBox has a smart integration with Voiceflow, a powerful flow builder. This allows users to create complex automated chat flows. The Voiceflow integration can be added by buying an additional plugin.

AI Integration
WhatsBox integrates with FlowiseAI, a powerful SaaS solution for building AI-driven flows. The FlowiseAI integration can be added by buying an additional plugin.
FlowiseAI is based on LangChain and is open-source, meaning you can host it yourself or opt for the paid cloud version. It’s a cost-effective option for technical users, but not everyone may be familiar with the technical details of LangChain or FlowiseAI.
I haven't worked with FlowiseAI. Based on my first impression, it's an excellent platform, but you need to test it yourself.
E-Commerce
I didn’t find any e-commerce functionalities. However, there is an extended license available that allows you to connect WhatsBox with various payment providers. So, there are possibilities under the hood...
Mobile Apps
WhatsBox has native apps for both iOS and Android, making it convenient for mobile use.
Booking Reminders
One of the standout plugins is the option for booking reminders. This can be very useful for businesses wanting to remind clients of appointments. With this paid plugin, it’s easy to send notifications for reservations and bookings.
Pricing: 23/25
The basic version of WhatsBox costs a one-time fee of $89, making it a very competitive price for the offered functionality. There are alsno no additional charges for Meta conversations, apart from standard WhatsApp costs.
For more advanced use cases like booking reminders, an additional one-time fee of $59 is required. You can also purchase the AI integration for $39. Because FlowiseAI is open-source, there are no extra costs if you have the technical knowledge to host it yourself. Otherwise, you can opt for a paid subscription.
One of the key benefits of WhatsBox is that it is a one-time purchase, allowing you to use it indefinitely with free updates included. This ensures excellent value for money in the long term. Moreover, the platform has an active development strategy with a clear roadmap and regular feature releases. This means users continue to benefit from new functionalities in the future.
Overall, WhatsBox offers a highly affordable solution for both basic and advanced usage scenarios.
Usability and Support: 12/20
WhatsBox is a PHP application that needs to be hosted on your own server and requires an SQL database for setup.
WhatsBox is straightforward to use for basic features like the shared inbox and campaigns. However, for more complex scenarios, such as chatbots, you will need to work with integrations like FlowiseAI, which requires more technical knowledge. Additionally, the booking plugin necessitates booking entries to be set via the API in WhatsBox, making it less accessible for non-technical users.
Documentation is available through a Notion website, and there are several instructional videos to get you started. The support has not been extensively tested.

Daniel Dimov
Company: 2/5
WhatsBox is developed by Daniel Dimov of Mobidonia, a company based in North Macedonia. The dependency on a single developer poses risks in terms of the platform's long-term development and support. While the current roadmap looks promising, there is a risk of continuity in the long term.
